INTENDED USE
Dichloran glycerol agar plate or DG18 is intended for growing yeasts and molds and enumerating of colonies in food, feed and environmental samples. The product's reduced water activity and chloramphenicol prevents the growth of bacteria while favoring the growth of molds and yeasts. The product is a ready-to-use medium plate for professional use.

MAIN PROPERTIES OF THE PRODUCT
DG18 is a selective ready-to-use plate which selectivity is based on the effect of chloramphenicol and lowered water activity (aW ≤ 0.95). Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that prevents the growth of bacteria on the plate. With the help of glycerol (18% w/w), the lowered water activity improves the growth of yeasts and molds that grow in drier environments on the plate. The plate’s dichloran limits the spread and growth of fungal colonies to a very large extent, making it easier to count the number of colonies. Plenty of glucose has been added to the dish as an energy source. Enzymatically digested casein brings a source of proteins and vitamins for the plate. The composition of the product complies with standard ISO 21527-2.

MAIN PROPERTIES OF THE PRODUCT
DRBC is a selective agar plate. The product’s selectivity is based on broad-spectrum antibiotic chloramphenicol and rose bengal dye. Rose bengal prevents growth of bacteria and limits the spread of fast-growing molds on the plate. Dichloran also limits the spread and growth of fungal colonies, making it easier to determine the colony count. Glucose is the fermentable carbohydrate of the medium. The composition of the product complies with standard ISO 21527-1.
