INTENDED USE
ALOA agar plate is intended for the isolation and presumptive identification of Listeria bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes colony morphology differs from other Listeria species on this agar, making its presumptive identification easier. The agar plate is especially suitable for food and environmental samples. The product is a ready-to-use plate for professional use.

MAIN PROPERTIES OF THE PRODUCT
ALOA is a nutritious and selective agar plate. The product’s selectivity for Listeria is based on a combination of antimicrobials: lithium chloride, nalidixic acid, ceftazidime, amphotericin B and polymyxin B. A chromogenic mixture added to the plate enables Listeria spp. detection. The chromogens turn Listeria colonies blue/green based on a β-glucosidase enzyme produced by Listeria species. Phosphatidylinositol is added to the plate to distinguish Listeria monocytogenes colonies from other Listeria colonies. Degradation of phosphatidylinositol by L. monocytogenes enzyme phospholipase C will produce a halo of precipitation around its colonies.

INTENDED USE
PEMBA agar plate is intended for the detection of Bacillus cereus from food samples. Presumptive identification of B. cereus from the plate is based on selective antibiotics, detection of lecithinase activity and blue staining of the colonies. The product is a ready-to-use plate for professional use.

MAIN PROPERTIES OF THE PRODUCT
PEMBA is a selective agar plate. The product’s selectivity is based on polymyxin B, which inhibits the growth of gram-negative bacteria. Egg yolk has been added to the plate so that the lecithinase activity of B. cereus bacteria can be observed as a zone of precipitation around its colonies. The low peptone content and sodium pyruvate promote the precipitation of the egg yolk emulsion and the sporulation of B. cereus bacteria. In addition, the plate has a bromothymol blue pH indicator that stains B. cereus colonies blue, while mannitol fermenting colonies turn yellow.

Baird Parker agar plate is intended for the isolation and enumeration of coagulase positive Staphylococcus aureus from food samples. The product is selective and differentiates coagulase positive S. aureus bacteria with the help of an egg yolk clarification reaction. The product is a ready-to-use plate for professional use.

MAIN PROPERTIES OF THE PRODUCT
Baird Parker agar’s selectivity for Staphylococcus aureus is based on glycine, lithium and tellurite. S. aureus reduces tellurite, resulting in shiny and dark gray/black stained colonies. Tryptone, meat extract and yeast extract form the nutrient-rich base of the medium. Sodium pyruvate promotes the recovery and growth of damaged cells. The medium is yellowish and cloudy due to the egg yolk but allows for the detection of a brightening reaction. The brightening reaction indicates lecithinase activity of S. aureus and is considered a preliminary indicator of coagulase positivity.

INTENDED USE
Dichloran glycerol agar plate or DG18 is intended for growing yeasts and molds and enumerating of colonies in food, feed and environmental samples. The product's reduced water activity and chloramphenicol prevents the growth of bacteria while favoring the growth of molds and yeasts. The product is a ready-to-use medium plate for professional use.

MAIN PROPERTIES OF THE PRODUCT
DG18 is a selective ready-to-use plate which selectivity is based on the effect of chloramphenicol and lowered water activity (aW ≤ 0.95). Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that prevents the growth of bacteria on the plate. With the help of glycerol (18% w/w), the lowered water activity improves the growth of yeasts and molds that grow in drier environments on the plate. The plate’s dichloran limits the spread and growth of fungal colonies to a very large extent, making it easier to count the number of colonies. Plenty of glucose has been added to the dish as an energy source. Enzymatically digested casein brings a source of proteins and vitamins for the plate. The composition of the product complies with standard ISO 21527-2.
