INTENDED USE
Sheep blood agar plate is intended for detection of hemolytic streptococci, staphylococci and other hemolytic bacteria in clinical diagnostics. The results obtained with the product should be used and evaluated together with other clinical and laboratory results. In other analytics, the nutrient-rich plate is suitable for the detection of aerobic bacteria. The product is a ready-to-use plate for professional use.

MAIN PROPERTIES OF THE PRODUCT
Sheep blood agar is a nutrient-rich general medium that does not contain antibiotics or other selective compounds. Sheep blood enables differentiation of hemolytic and non-hemolytic bacteria. The plate is low in carbohydrates so that beta hemolytic streptococci do not cause alpha hemolysis. Low carbohydrate content can reduce the size of streptococcal colonies, but often improves the clarity of hemolysis.

The product contains a biological substance of animal origin (sheep's blood).

Tryptone glucose yeast extract agar is intended for enumeration of bacteria from environmental samples. The plate has a neutral pH, and its selectivity for bacteria is based on natamycin. The product is a ready-to-use plate for professional use.

MAIN PROPERTIES OF THE PRODUCT
TGEA is a nutrient-rich and selective agar plate. The product’s selectivity is based on natamycin that prevents growth of yeasts, molds and saprophytic fungi. Glucose added to the plate serves as an energy source for bacteria. Casein and yeast extract provide a source of nitrogen and B vitamins. The composition of the product is in accordance with Finnish guidelines for the application of the Housing Health Decree.
